Macao SAR to Improve Visa Rules for Foreign Residents Visiting Mainland

by Hyacinth

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) is set to enhance its visa policy for foreign residents traveling to the Chinese mainland, effective Wednesday. This announcement comes from the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macao SAR.

Under the new policy, foreign residents in Macao can apply for multiple-entry visas valid for five years. These visas allow stays of up to 180 days for purposes such as tourism, trade, and visiting family.

Additionally, applicants will no longer need to provide round-trip tickets or hotel reservations when applying for these visas. They can also benefit from a “one-time collection and long-term exemption” policy for fingerprints. If they have previously recorded their fingerprints at Chinese overseas visa agencies, they will not need to provide them again when applying for a new visa.
