Egypt to Remove Visa Requirement for Canadian Travelers Starting December 1, 2024.
CAIRO – October 14, 2024 – Egypt will eliminate the pre-entry visa requirement for Canadian citizens starting December 1, 2024, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry released on Monday.
Canadian travelers can choose to obtain a visa upon arrival at Egyptian airports. The electronic visa (E-VISA) application process will also be reactivated, as stated in the announcement.
This change will apply to all Canadian citizens arriving in Egypt from December 1, 2024. The decision follows a recent meeting between Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly. This meeting took place during the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.
To celebrate the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Canada, both nations emphasized the importance of boosting trade and tourism. They also agreed to simplify visa processes for their citizens.
The decision to cancel pre-entry visas underscores a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation and strengthening ties between Egyptian and Canadian citizens.
This initiative aligns with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to prioritize the needs of Egyptian citizens living abroad and to address any challenges they may encounter.
