Uganda’s e-Visa Portal Reopens After 10-Day Upgrade.
The Uganda e-Visa portal has reopened after being offline for ten days due to a system update. The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has confirmed that the upgrade of the electronic visa (e-Visa) portal is complete.
Authorities had temporarily suspended the e-Visa system to implement necessary improvements. During this time, international travelers were still able to obtain visas upon arrival in Uganda.
Today, Ugandan Immigration announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the e-Visa system is “successfully upgraded and is now fully operational.”
All applicants seeking visas, work permits, entry permits, residence certificates, or passes can now conveniently apply for these services online.
The upgrade aims to “ensure a seamless experience for all applicants,” according to immigration officials. They expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation during the upgrade process. The authorities emphasized their commitment to delivering professional services.
The official Uganda e-Visa portal, accessible allows potential travelers and residents to easily submit their visa applications online.
This system streamlines the application process for various visa types, including tourist, business, East African Tourist Visa, work permits, residence certificates, and passes for students, researchers, and visitors.
Through this platform, users can fill out and submit their forms, upload necessary documents, pay for their visa applications online, and track their application status in real time. This eliminates the need to visit an embassy, consulate, or immigration office in person.
The cost of an ordinary e-Visa is $50.
