U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe to Launch New Visa Appointment System in November.
The U.S. Embassy in Zimbabwe will introduce a new visa appointment system starting on November 8, 2024. This improved system will enable applicants to access visa information, pay visa fees, and schedule nonimmigrant visa appointments all in one streamlined process.
What Applicants Should Know
Applicants planning to apply for a visa around or after November 8, 2024, are advised to wait until after this date to pay their visa fees and schedule appointments through the updated system. However, those who have already scheduled appointments using the current Department of State system should proceed with their appointments as planned. These appointments remain valid, and applicants are expected to attend on the scheduled date and time.
New Payment and Scheduling Process
Under the new system, applicants will need to pay their visa fees before scheduling an appointment. The payment options include:
1. Paying in cash at any Ecobank branch (the U.S. Embassy will no longer accept payments directly).
2. Paying by credit card in U.S. dollars via the new appointment scheduling website.
Expedited Appointment Requests
Visa applicants will also have the option to request expedited appointments through the new system. This can be done only after scheduling a regular appointment for the nearest available date. The criteria for requesting expedited appointments will be provided on the new appointment website. Going forward, expedited requests will no longer be accepted via email to the consular section.
Interview Waiver and Additional Services
Applicants eligible for the Interview Waiver program will be able to schedule appointments to drop off their visa applications at designated times through the new system.
Additionally, general visa information will be accessible via the new appointment website or through a free-of-charge call center. Applicants may also email Visa Information Supporting Services with inquiries. Importantly, the U.S. Embassy will no longer handle phone or email inquiries directly from applicants.
No Changes to Visa Fees
Despite the implementation of the new system, the visa application fee will remain the same.
Further details about the new website, where applicants can pay and schedule their visa appointments, will be announced closer to the launch date. The introduction of this new system reflects the embassy’s ongoing efforts to enhance its services for visa applicants.
