Israeli border police apprehended a Palestinian illegal immigrant at the az-Za’ayyem checkpoint near Jerusalem on Wednesday. The suspect was caught trying to smuggle four additional illegal Palestinian immigrants into Israel, Israel Police reported.
Authorities observed that the vehicle involved, which had crossed from the West Bank, displayed a yellow ribbon supporting Hamas hostages and an air freshener featuring an Israeli flag. Upon inspection, police discovered the driver, also an illegal immigrant from the West Bank, along with four others—one of whom was concealed in the trunk. The vehicle contained Israeli flags, a Yarmulke, a wig, and Palestinian license plates that had been swapped with Israeli plates from another car.
An indictment has been filed against the four illegal immigrants for charges related to unauthorized entry and residence in Israel. The detention of the vehicle’s driver has been extended as legal proceedings continue.
