Jafri stated that the employers are also under suspicion for hiring and sheltering illegal immigrants. These employers will be investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63.

He warned employers against hiring illegal immigrants and emphasized that strict action will be taken against those found guilty of this offense. Jafri also advised employers to avoid using agents for obtaining permits and documents for foreign workers. Instead, he urged them to directly contact the Immigration Department.

“Employers should come to us directly. We have not appointed any agents for these matters,” Jafri said.

Since January of this year, the Immigration Department has arrested 31,196 illegal immigrants and detained 1,018 employers for related offenses.

During the raid, some foreign workers attempted to escape by hiding among stacks of boxes and in the toilets. However, these attempts were thwarted by the thorough inspection and strict cordon set up by the Immigration Department at both locations.
