Springfield to Host Colors of Health Fashion Show and Community Engagement Awards.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Alliance for Women in Medicine and Science (AWIMS) is set to host its annual Colors of Health Fashion Show and Community Engagement Awards on Friday, September 6. The event will take place at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, located at 420 S. 6th St.
This event highlights the blend of community engagement and health through a unique fashion presentation. The proceeds from the evening will support the Springfield Immigrant Advocacy Network. This local organization works to protect and promote the rights and well-being of Springfield’s immigrant and refugee communities through advocacy, education, and assistance.
The standout feature of the night will be the AWIMS Community Engagement Award. This award recognizes an individual or organization that demonstrates a commitment to promoting gender equity, career advancement, work-life balance, and community engagement.

Erica Austin, deputy director of the SIU Medicine Office of External Relations, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to host this event and celebrate the incredible work being done in our community. The evening will kick off with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by the fashion show at 6 p.m.
