Sudanese Man Charged With Two Visa Violations on August 19

A man born in Sudan is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Monday, August 19, 2024, facing charges for allegedly violating his visa curfew conditions.

The 36-year-old was arrested in Brisbane on August 18, 2024, by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

He is accused of breaching the terms of his Commonwealth visa by not adhering to his residential curfew requirements.

The charges against him include two counts of failing to comply with a curfew condition, as outlined in section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

Each of these charges carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
