Turkey to Implement New Visa Procedures for Iraqi Citizens in September.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced that new visa procedures for Iraqi citizens will take effect starting in early September.
Fidan made the announcement during a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Thursday.
The new visa measures stem from prior agreements between Turkey and Iraq. In July, both governments agreed to waive visa requirements for their citizens under the age of 15 and over the age of 50.
Iraq’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Omar Barzanji, confirmed the agreement on July 10, 2024. “We have reached an agreement with the Turkish Foreign Ministry to lift visas for people under the age of 15 and those over the age of 50,” Barzanji stated.
He also clarified that the visa process would remain the same for those outside these age groups.
