Immigrant Attacked by Teenage Mob in Broad Daylight Assault in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, CA – An immigrant seeking asylum in the United States was violently attacked and robbed by a group of teenagers in Los Angeles, in an incident that was caught on camera and has shocked the community.
Shailoobek Bazarbai, who fled Kyrgyzstan and has been living in Los Angeles for the past year, was the victim of this brutal attack on August 2. The assault left him with a broken leg, and his passport and wallet were stolen.
The attack occurred when Bazarbai was sitting in his car, surrounded by a group of approximately 40 teenagers on bicycles. One teenager threw a bottle at his vehicle, prompting Bazarbai to step out and check for damage. As soon as he exited the car, the mob descended on him.
Some of the teenagers broke into his car, stealing his belongings. Bazarbai explained on a GoFundMe page that he had stored all his valuables in the car, including cash, credit cards, phones, and important documents, as he was preparing to move. Days after the attack, he discovered that one of his credit cards had been used.
The mob grew more aggressive, with some teenagers climbing onto the roof of his car. In a moment of desperation, Bazarbai was saved by a good Samaritan. Janeth Garcia, a motorist who witnessed the assault, intervened to rescue him.
“I couldn’t just stand by and watch,” Garcia told a local news outlet. “I jumped in, pushed my way through the crowd, found him, and got him out. It was me against dozens of them.”
Garcia managed to fight off the group and protect Bazarbai. “It felt like 30 against one, but I had to do something,” she said. Bazarbai suffered extensive bruises and a broken leg that required surgery. He credits Garcia with saving his life. “If she hadn’t pulled me out, it could have been much worse,” he said.
The attack also resulted in significant damage to Bazarbai’s car, including broken windows. “I’m alone here and never imagined I’d face something like this,” he wrote on his fundraising page. “I’m grateful for any help I can get.”
As of now, the Los Angeles Police Department has not made any arrests in connection with the attack.
This incident comes amid a troubling rise in organized crime in Los Angeles. Just days before, a group of around 50 masked teenagers robbed a 7-Eleven store, stealing cigarettes, snacks, drinks, and other items. Video footage shows the group throwing merchandise, climbing counters, and toppling shelves.
In another disturbing event, on New Year’s Eve 2023, “Beverly Hills 90210” actor Ian Ziering was assaulted by a group of bikers on Hollywood Boulevard. Ziering described the incident as “alarming” in an Instagram post.
