The Australian Department of Home Affairs has expanded its Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa program to include citizens of the Republic of the Philippines, effective from July 1, 2024.
This update is formalized in the Migration (Arrangements for Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) Visa Applications) Amendment (The Philippines) Instrument (LIN 24/041) 2024, which modifies previous legislation (LIN 21/019) to designate the Philippines as a participating country under the program. The amendment also outlines specific educational requirements for applicants.
Benefits for Applicants:
The Work and Holiday visa program now welcomes Philippines passport holders aged 18-30, allowing them to immerse themselves in Australian life and culture for up to twelve months. Key benefits include:
Engaging in short-term employment to support their stay.
Traveling freely within Australia during the visa’s validity.
Educational Qualifications:
Under the revised program, applicants from the Philippines must meet one of the following educational criteria to qualify for the Work and Holiday visa:
Hold a tertiary qualification such as a university degree or equivalent.
Have completed at least two years of undergraduate or post-secondary education.
This expansion aims to enhance bilateral relations between Australia and the Philippines by promoting cultural exchange and offering valuable opportunities for work and travel.
