As of June 11, the European Commission plans to implement a 12% increase in short-stay Schengen visa (visa type C) fees globally, as reported by SchengenNews on May 20.
The new fees will amount to 90 euros (US$97) for adults and 45 euros (US$48) for children aged six to under 12 years.
The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia has informed third-country nationals requiring a Schengen visa about the upcoming fee hike, effective from June 11.
According to data from SchengenNews, in 2023, a total of 159,072 citizens of Kazakhstan submitted applications for Schengen visas, out of which 143,970 were approved, resulting in an approval rate of around 90.51%.
In 2023, Kazakh nationals expended 12.7 million euros (US$13.7 million) on Schengen visa applications.
Experts at SchengenNews project that with the same volume of applications, the total expenditure is expected to rise to 14.3 million euros (US$15 million) with the implementation of the new fee structure, indicating an increase of 1.5 million euros (US$1.6 million).
