China’s foreign ministry has declared that it will retaliate against any visa restrictions imposed by the United States on Hong Kong officials. This announcement came from a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry on Monday.
The decision from the United States to enforce new visa restrictions on Chinese and Hong Kong officials follows the conviction of pro-democracy organizers in Hong Kong under the National Security Law, as stated by the State Department.
During a routine press briefing, spokesperson Mao Ning expressed China’s firm opposition to any exclusive actions taken in the Asia-Pacific region.
