China Opens Doors to Foreign Tourists via Cruises

by Hyacinth

China is welcoming foreign tourists with open arms as it launches a new policy allowing visa-free entry for tourist groups arriving via cruises. The National Immigration Administration announced this exciting development on May 15, signaling a sea change in travel opportunities for adventurers.

Following approval from various government departments and the State Council, the National Immigration Administration has charted a course to facilitate visa-free entry for foreign tourist groups arriving at 13 coastal cruise ports across the country. These ports include Tianjin, Dalian in Liaoning, Shanghai, Lianyungang in Jiangsu, Wenzhou and Zhoushan in Zhejiang, Xiamen in Fujian, Qingdao in Shandong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen in Guangdong, Beihai in Guangxi, Haikou, and Sanya in Hainan.

In a bid to further boost cruise tourism, seven additional ports — Dalian, Lianyungang, Wenzhou, Zhoushan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beihai — have been added to the list of transit visa-free ports. This move promises smooth sailing for foreign travelers passing through China’s coastal waters.

However, there are guidelines to follow. Foreign tourist groups must remain with the same cruise ship until its departure, and their stay in China cannot exceed 15 days.

Embark on an adventure and explore the coastal wonders of China while enjoying maritime merriment along its provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and Beijing. All aboard for an unforgettable journey!
