Visa has teamed up with fintech company DealMe to introduce cross-border card instalment payment services, catering to the growing demand for flexible payment options among Vietnamese and international consumers. The new service will enhance the convenience of Vietnamese Visa credit cardholders traveling abroad, particularly in South Korea.
75% of Vietnamese Consumers Plan to Travel in 2025
A recent survey by Visa revealed that 75% of Vietnamese consumers plan to travel for leisure in 2025. Among them, South Korea emerged as the top destination, with 18% of respondents indicating their intention to visit the country.
Access Instalment Offers at Leading South Korean Merchants
Through this partnership, Vietnamese Visa credit cardholders will be able to access real-time instalment offers at select merchants in South Korea. The service will be available at duty-free shops, department stores, and medical institutions, providing an additional layer of convenience for travelers.
Expanding Payment Options for International Consumers
The collaboration also introduces instalment payment options to international Visa cardholders shopping at participating South Korean merchants. Eligible cardholders will have the ability to choose their preferred instalment duration at the time of purchase, a service that was previously unavailable for cross-border transactions.
Global Expansion on the Horizon
This new service, a significant advancement in payment flexibility, will first launch in South Korea. DealMe plans to expand the offering to Vietnam, the United States, Australia, Japan, and Singapore. The initiative is made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Visa’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in November 2024, which will leverage Visa’s global network to reach more international consumers.
