The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a new measure that allows Algerian nationals holding valid foreign passports to enter and exit Algeria without a visa. This decision follows the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at addressing the needs of the national community abroad and simplifying their travel procedures.
According to the press release, the exception will apply until December 31, 2025. Algerians with valid foreign passports will no longer need to obtain a visa, as long as they present the same documents when entering and exiting the country.
Conditions for Visa-Free Entry
The announcement specifies two conditions under which nationals can benefit from this visa exemption:
Foreign Passport with Expired Biometric National ID: Algerians can present a valid foreign passport along with an electronic biometric national identity card, even if the card is expired.
Foreign Passport with Expired Biometric Algerian Passport: Alternatively, they may present a valid foreign passport along with an expired biometric Algerian passport.
This move is designed to facilitate the return of Algerians living abroad and ease their entry into their home country.
