A Moroccan man holding a U.S. green card went on a stabbing spree in Tel Aviv, wounding four individuals before being fatally shot by an armed civilian. Shockingly, the terrorist made a brief stop for pizza just minutes before his attack, as shown by security footage.
The Pizza Stop Before the Rampage
Abdelaziz Kaddi, 29, was captured on camera picking up pizza at a local restaurant, Pizza and Tortilla, in Tel Aviv’s Nahalat Binyamin neighborhood. This occurred shortly before he began his violent rampage on Tuesday night.
Restaurant owner Chaim Bassan was taken aback by the events. He had interacted with Kaddi, believing him to be a polite customer.
“We saw him, we talked to him,” Bassan shared with Channel 12. “A few minutes later, people were running and shouting ‘terrorist,’ followed by gunshots. So we ran.”
Kaddi, who spoke English with an Arabic accent, appeared out of place in Tel Aviv, but Bassan found no clues suggesting the attack. In fact, Kaddi returned his plate to the restaurant, a gesture not always seen from Israeli customers.
The Attack and Its Aftermath
After leaving the restaurant, Kaddi began his attack, first injuring two men in Nahalat Binyamin and then two more around the corner. He was soon pursued by an off-duty IDF officer, and ultimately shot by an armed civilian, bringing the violent spree to an end.
The U.S. State Department confirmed that Kaddi was a holder of a U.S. green card when he carried out the attack. “We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and to the families of all those affected,” the department said in a statement.
Israeli authorities revealed that Kaddi had entered Israel from the West Bank on January 18 with a tourist visa.
