China has expressed hope that Japan will join efforts to improve people-to-people exchanges following Beijing’s announcement of a visa-free arrangement for Japanese citizens.
During a routine press briefing on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated, “We certainly hope that the Japanese side will cooperate with us to enhance the facilitation of exchanges between the two countries.”
Mao emphasized that China has always valued such exchanges, underscoring the government’s commitment to making travel easier between nations.
As part of its ongoing initiative to promote tourism and business, China announced that it will extend its visa-free arrangements to Japan, along with eight other countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia. The new visa policy will be in effect from November 30, 2024, to December 31, 2025, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Additionally, China will increase the visa-free stay period from 15 days to 30 days for citizens of all 38 countries included in its existing visa-free program.
