Trump’s New Border Czar, Tom Homan, Unveils Bold Immigration Strategy

by Hyacinth

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Tom Homan, named “border czar” by President-elect Donald Trump, spoke with Gray Television’s WWNY on Monday to outline how the incoming administration will handle immigration. Homan’s responsibilities will include overseeing deportations, security at the U.S.-Mexico border, and managing maritime and aviation security.

In a post on Truth Social late Sunday, President-elect Trump confirmed Homan’s role and emphasized that there would be no secrecy surrounding the administration’s policies.

“We’re going to prove to the American people that we’re focused on public safety and national security,” Homan said. “We will be transparent, holding frequent press conferences to keep the public informed about our actions.”

Homan stressed that national security would be the administration’s top priority, but also signaled a return to targeted operations aimed at identifying undocumented workers at job sites.

“Most victims of human trafficking are found at work sites,” Homan explained, citing locations like meatpacking plants and massage parlors where workers are often forced into labor to pay off smuggling fees. He noted that these operations would help authorities rescue trafficking victims and identify those being exploited.

According to Homan, removing undocumented workers from the labor market will prevent companies from paying them below minimum wage, which he says undercuts businesses that follow labor laws. However, he clarified that those with valid work visas would not be affected.

Homan, who was involved in the controversial policy of separating parents from children during the first Trump administration, addressed criticism of that practice. He stated that while there are no plans to reinstate family separations, he defended the concept, saying, “When we arrest parents here, we separate them. Illegal aliens should be no different. If an adult is charged with a crime, their child can’t go to jail with them.”

Homan also contributed to the border security section of Project 2025, a blueprint for future Trump administration policies.
