Canadian Citizens No Longer Need to Apply for Visa in Advance to Travel to Egypt.
Starting December 1, 2024, Canadian citizens will no longer be required to obtain a visa before traveling to Egypt.
This decision was announced last month as Egypt reintroduces electronic visas for Canadians. This change comes nearly a year after Egypt halted online and arrival visa applications, which had significantly impacted tourism from Canada.
Previously, Canadians had to pay a fee of $150 and submit an application form along with their passport and travel itinerary to obtain a visa.
In a recent Facebook update, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates stated, “The Arab Republic of Egypt has decided to lift the pre-entry visa requirement for Canadian citizens traveling to Egypt. This allows for the issuance of a visa upon arrival at Egyptian ports of entry.”
Additionally, the ministry confirmed the reactivation of the option to apply for and obtain an electronic visa (e-VISA). These new measures will take effect for all Canadian citizens arriving in Egypt starting on December 1, 2024.
