This change will apply to all Canadian citizens arriving in Egypt from December 1, 2024. The decision follows a recent meeting between Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly. This meeting took place during the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

To celebrate the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Canada, both nations emphasized the importance of boosting trade and tourism. They also agreed to simplify visa processes for their citizens.

The decision to cancel pre-entry visas underscores a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation and strengthening ties between Egyptian and Canadian citizens.

This initiative aligns with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to prioritize the needs of Egyptian citizens living abroad and to address any challenges they may encounter.
