Trump’s Rally Takes a Dark Turn with Aggressive Immigration Threats

Trump Uses Nazi Rhetoric at Colorado Rally.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has once again sparked controversy with his rhetoric, drawing parallels to Nazi language. At a rally in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday, he used violent and dehumanizing terms to describe immigrants, labeling them as the “enemy from within.” Trump advocated for stricter criminal punishments for this vulnerable group, including a promise to impose the death penalty.

During his speech, Trump remarked, “I protect you from outside enemies. You can say China, you can say Russia, you can say Kim Jong Un… with a smart president, it’s no problem. It’s the enemy from within.” He further claimed, “All the scum we have to deal with that hate our country. That’s a bigger enemy than China and Russia.” He suggested that everyday Americans, like a woman named Cindy, live in fear because of what he described as policies from Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of releasing criminals from places like Caracas.

This assertion is unfounded. Trump incorrectly claimed that this leads to a decrease in crime worldwide. “Every country, you know, prison populations all over the world are down. Crime all over the world is down. They take the world’s criminals, gang members, drug dealers, and deposit them into the United States. Bus after bus after bus,” he said, which drew boos from the crowd.

In fact, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reports that the global prison population has increased by over 25 percent since 2000.

Trump continued his attack, stating, “They took the criminals out of Caracas, and they put them along your border, and they said if you ever come back, we’re going to kill you.” He added, “Think of that! We have to live with these animals. But we won’t live with them for long!”

A supporter in the audience reacted by shouting, “Kill them!”

In his speech, Trump also called for the swift removal of what he termed “savage gangs.” He promised that, if elected, he would appoint “elite squads” to carry out mass deportations. Furthermore, he vowed to enforce the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen or a law enforcement officer.

Last year, Trump employed similarly alarming language, echoing Adolf Hitler’s tactics to dehumanize his opponents. He referred to his political rivals—the “Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs”—as “vermin” and claimed that immigrants were “destroying the blood of our country.”
