by Hyacinth

Thailand and Timor-Leste have agreed to waive visa requirements for tourists holding ordinary passports, aiming to boost tourism between the two nations. The decision follows an official visit to Thailand by Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Timor-Leste’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, held from June 20-21.

Under the agreement, citizens from both countries can now travel visa-free for up to 30 days. Deputy government spokeswoman Radklao Intawong Suwankiri highlighted that the initiative seeks to facilitate easier travel for Thai and Timor-Leste citizens between the two countries.

During the visit, Minister Freitas met with his Thai counterpart, Maris Sangiampongsa, on June 21. A statement from Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed satisfaction with the close bilateral relations and friendship between the two countries. Discussions between the ministers also covered plans to enhance cooperation across various domains, including military affairs, United Nations peacekeeping operations, and military education.
