China to Expand Visa-Free Access for Travelers to 9 Countries, Including Japan, and Streamline Immigration Policy

by Hyacinth

China will expand its visa-free policy to include more countries, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). Starting November 30, 2024, holders of ordinary passports from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan will be eligible for a visa-free stay in China. This trial policy will run from November 30, 2024, to December 31, 2025.

Additionally, the policy changes will streamline immigration procedures. China will now allow exchange visits as a valid reason for visa exemption and extend the allowed duration of stay from 15 days to 30 days.
