New Billboards Promote Immigrant Inclusion Across Colorado.
DENVER — Driving through the Denver metro area, residents may notice new mint green billboards displaying the message, “Dignity for All, from the Peaks to the Plains. Immigrants are Colorado Strong.”
These billboards are part of a nationwide initiative designed to foster more welcoming communities for immigrants. The campaign is organized by the bipartisan American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and will run from October 7 to November 3.
“This is not about political parties. It’s about our identity as Coloradans,” said Jennifer Piper, program director for AFSC’s Colorado office. She emphasized that the ads aim to highlight the strength of immigrant communities.
AFSC believes that immigrants should be welcomed in the U.S., and their basic human and civil rights must be respected. Piper noted the importance of recognizing the longstanding presence of immigrants in Colorado, stating, “For decades, immigrants have been our neighbors and family. Regardless of the presidential election outcome, we want everyone to feel included in our communities.”
Piper has received numerous messages of gratitude regarding the billboards. “Amid the noise of the presidential election, both immigrants and their supporters have felt isolated. These billboards aim to provide relief and recognition for all,” she explained. “They are for everyone—citizens, long-term immigrants, and recent arrivals.”
The billboards can be found at various locations, including:
Denver (Eastside): 4635 E. Colfax and 7404 E. Colfax
Denver (Westside): 1420 W. Alameda
Denver (South): 2406 S. Federal
Denver (Northside): 1025 Federal
Sterling: Highway 6
Greeley: Highway 85
Thornton: I-76 and Dahlia
AFSC told Denver7 that this campaign aims to present a positive message about immigrants, countering the recent rise of anti-immigrant sentiments.
Piper expressed hope that the message will resonate beyond this initiative. “Coloradans have enacted policies over the past decade that empower everyone in the community,” she said. “These efforts have made our roads safer by ensuring all can obtain a license and have strengthened our communities by providing access to education. We want to continue these policies that benefit working-class individuals, regardless of their citizenship.”
In addition to Colorado, the campaign will also be launched in New Jersey, New Hampshire, Florida, California, and Oregon.
